A greenfinch is a type of small bird that is vibrant and full of energy; a bird so resourceful that it has spread throughout Europe and managed to carve out a home wherever it lands. In this sense, it's much like us, the entrepreneurs who have all migrated to Finland from elsewhere in the world and are now building our nests here in Helsinki.
Greenfinch is nested in the bottom floor of the We Land building in Ruoholahti, Helsinki. In 2022, We Land was awarded the BREEAM certification, achieving an 'Outstanding' rating and becoming the first to achieve this level in all of Finland. BREEAM certification is a global standard for assessing the sustainability of the built environment. It awards credits for sustainable practices across various categories such as energy, health, materials, waste, and biodiversity. We are proud to contribute to our surroundings by maintaining a high level of care and quality through our restaurant design.
Leading the way is Edward, who co-founded Hills Dumplings, Loi Loi Rooftop, and has participated several other restaurant projects around Helsinki as a consultant. Edward has a Master Distiller's license and will be in charge of the distillery's gin manufacturing and drink program.
In the kitchen you'll find Mike, one of the co-founders of Pobre. Mike has over 25 years experience creating and executing food menus ranging from casual eateries to full-service fine dining restaurants, and he can't wait to show you what's been cooking.
Behind the counter is Sam, one of the co-founders of Loi Loi Rooftop. He is the curator of the service & vibe for our guests, as well as working closely with our excellent interior designer to bring the vision of a thoughtful café restaurant to life. He will make sure everyone get's a very good cup of coffee.
